TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER!

Hablar sobre ‘el tiempo’ es algo que todos hacemos, y lo hacemos todos los días,  ya que es un recurso comunicativo muy habitual. Tema estrella cuando te subes en un ascensor, ¿verdad?, o la mejor forma de romper el hielo cuando estás ante desconocidos…

Pero si nosotros los españoles lo hacemos, los británicos son los verdaderos expertos en la  materia. Algunas encuestas señalan que, de media, un británico habla sobre el tiempo al menos una vez cada seis horas y que un 70% de ellos chequean el pronóstico cada día, incluso cuando no se espere que haya ningún cambio significativo.

Visto lo visto, si estás aprendiendo inglés es  “ I N D I S P E N S A B L E “ que domines el vocabulario y expresiones que se utilizan para hablar del tiempo.

¿Cómo podemos preguntar sobre el tiempo?

Aquí te damos algunas preguntas con las que puedes empezar esa interesantísima conversación sobre el tiempo, con la que puedes empezar a conocer nueva gente.

  • Do you know the weather forecast for tomorrow?
  • What’s the weather forecast for the rest of the week?
  • What’s the weather like?
  • What’s it like outside?
  • What’s the temperature?
  • What is the weather expected to be like?
  • Is it hot or cold?
  • Beautiful day, isn’t it? Awful weather, isn’t it?
  • Should I take my umbrella?

Si hablamos de ‘BUEN TIEMPO’

  • Today it is warm and sunny out
  • The sun is very bright today, you might want to take sunglasses.
  • I’m so happy the sun is shining.
  • We’re hoping for good weather while we’re on holiday
  • There’s not a cloud in the sky
  • What a beautiful day!
  • We couldn’t ask for nicer weather this week!

Cuando hablamos de ‘FRÍO’, o cómo saber si es suficiente con una rebequita o te vas a quedar pasmao. (Grados en la escala del frío)

  • It’s cool
  • It’s chilly
  • It’s nippy
  • It’s cold
  • It’s freezing
  • It’s below zero
  • It’s artic

A mal tiempo, buena cara.

  • It sure is a scorcher today
  • I can’t believe this storm!
  • Heavy rain seems to be heading this way
  • It’s overcast right now, but the forecast says it should clear up by this afternoon
  • I think the sun is trying to come out
  • It’s boiling hot!
  • It’s expected to be colder than last year.
  • This is the worst weather we’ve had all year!
  • It’s raining cats and dogs!
  • The weather will be cooling down
  • Take a jacket – it’s a bit chilly out there
